Mir Sher Muhammad Talpur, popularly known as “The Lion of Sindh” (''Sher-i-Sindh'', شير ع سنده), belonged to the Mirpurkhas House of Royal Talpurs. He was the son of Mir Ali Murad Talpur, the founder of Mirpurkhas, and was born in 1810. He was the last ruler of Talpurs who fought British General Charles Napier on 24 March 1843 at the battleground of Dubbo to liberate Sindh from British domination; after the Baloch forces lost the battle he and his men armed with muskets retreated into the rural areas where they began insurgencies against the British invaders, in fact it was Charles James Napier who invented the term: "Counter-Insurgency". He is considered as the pioneer of freedom struggle in Sindh. He died on 24 August 1874. ==External links==
